Blue came over to Limebrook in October 2005 from the Ballinasloe sale. He was bought as a five year old to later be brought in to the riding school. Blue turned out to be too tense and strong so he was given to Alex to bring on and either bring into the school or to sell on. After about 8 months of very hard work and a lot of gloves later he had started to slow down but Alex had fallen head over hills in love with him, so he was then given to her for a year. But after a lot of “dad you know how much I love you” in June 06 he was given to Alex as her own horse.
Make sure you get my good side, won't you?
Blue is a 15 2 -15 3hh blue and white cob who has turned 7 now, Blue is a very unique boy, as he has one blue eye on his left side, which fits in with his colour so doesn’t stand out. In the summer months you will most likely find blue covered in sun cream as he gets a very sun burnt nose as it is very pink! Bless him!
Blue has two very different sides to him, he has his brilliant stable manners, where you can do anything you want with him including hogging and bathing him while he is tied up. The only thing Blue does hate is a human’s white legs, there was this one time when Alex went to catch Blue from the field wearing a skirt and he wouldn’t go anywhere near her - he just kept galloping away. In the end she had to go and ask Kelly if she wouldn’t mind catching him. Silly boy!
When being ridden Blue can get very excited and strong as he is always wanting to please, over the time Alex has had him he has started to slow down and work an outline, this is when he is not being nosey!
Alex and Blue have started to do some dressage and showing shows, the better out of the two being the showing classes and Blue is competing in both ridden and in hand coloureds and cob classes. His latest success was at Layer Marne Towers THEC, this was his first outdoor show and second ridden show. They did the coloured class, and there were seven very beautiful coloureds ranging from palomino and white, to black and white and of all types of breeding, Blue come 1st and behaved like a real gentleman. He is also starting to do some dressage now but has to be ridden in a snaffle so the canter can be a little quick but he is getting better all the time.
Not a lot is known about Blue apart from his name ‘Bluey Boy’ but now known as Blue and show name Mister Blue.
Blue is one in a million and I will keep you updated on his progress.
