Jack
Jack's History
Jack came to Limebrook when he was only a few months old - he had to be weaned early as his mother died from laminitus. Jack himself suffered from laminitus when he was only 3, and as a result has always been a slender horse who requires careful feeding. Initially kept entire for breeding purposes, Jack was castrated after he had covered three mares as he only produced colt foals.
Jack was broken at Limebrook, but turned out to be so strong and unreliable that he was turned away for six months in the livery field. He was brought back to the school to be sold, but had matured during his time out, and was kept on to be a riding school horse.
That decision turned out to be a very good one - Jack has been at Limebrook since around 1987 years now, and for nearly 20 yars proved to be a perfect riding school horse.
Jack's Tricks
Jack has his real fans - people who want to ride him time and time again. However, these riders all know his little tricks!
Jack has perfected the art of having a pooh just as he takes the lead rein and is asked to do something, for example, jump! Jack is so accomplished that his record is 8 poohs in one half hour lessons. New for 2006 he appears to have added weeing to his repetoire as well! This does make him one of the cleanest horses on the yard to muck out, as he saves himself for lessons! However, this particular trick may have had it’s day as Julia has worked out how to overcome this trait.
He is a very gentle horse, extremely good mannered in the stable, and very easy to tack up. Not only does he give a rider confidence in the saddle, but he also helps out the more nervous on the ground too.
The only failing on Jack's part was an intense dislike of trotting poles. Although a good jumper, Jack would veer away from trotting poles as if terrified of them. However, patience and perseverance have paid off, and during 2005 Jack learnt to trot over poles - which must go to prove it is never too late to teach an old horse new tricks!

Jack jumps for joy as he finds out he is now a livery horse!
As anyone who has ever ridden Jack knows, this gentle 15.2 piebald gelding has a unique personality all of his own. It will come as no surprise then to learn that he chose his owner. Jack and Julia have been an item for quite a while now and the two of them plan to totter off into old age together. As neither of them act their age this is not likely to happen for some years to come.
And certainly not before Julia has entered Jack into a few veteran classes.
