Ghost seen at Limebrook!
It has long been known that the 'bottom boxes', nowadays the livery's feed rooms, have been haunted, and many won't venture down there alone. However, one of the clearest supernatural sightings occurred this past week, when one of the livery owners went to get a rug after dark.
She put the light on, half picked up the rug, and caught a movement out of the corner of her eye - she turned, only to see an indistinct dark shape, about 4 foot high, rushing towards and past her. She felt it brush past her, and then disappeared!
A member of staff recalls feeling a firm push on the back when in the boxes some time ago - when she turned no one was there!
A couple of years ago one of the stables had been used for a lunchtime quiz during an 'own a pony' day. A ring of chairs had been left out - that evening it was found a mound of hay had been carefully placed on each of the chairs!
Limebrook has had a chequered history. Before it became a riding school it was one of the largest cattle farms in Essex. During the war it housed prisoners of war. But no one is really sure what could haunt the bottom boxes.
Horses have been heard wandering around the yard at night when all were turned out in the fields. Staff living on the premises have come down to investigate, thinking that someone had forgotten to turn a horse out - only to find all stables were empty!
As for the livery owner who saw the ghost this week? She won't be going down to make her feeds up after dark for a while!
Johnny B Goode arrives at Limebrook
Johnny B Goode, an unbroken 3 year old with an impressive history of winning in hand shows arrived at Limebrook on the 17th September 2006. Purchased jointly by Clare and Alan, once backed Johnny is set to have a great showing future. He travelled well, and seemed to settle in well to his new home.
Lloyd rides again!
Does anyone recognise this horse??? After time spent chilling out in the Livery Field last summer, Lloyd went to a new home with Trevor, his old admirer late last year. Proving there is very much life in this old horse yet, here is a picture of him taken on the East Kent Ride in the spring of 2007.
Trevor writes, "Didn't do many jumps, but he was so good. Everyone can't believe how old he is. He's very happy, and even smiled for the cameraman."
He certainly looks full of himself in this picture, and Tammy, who met them on the ride, confirmed that he was obviously having a whale of a time! Congratulations to Trevor for bringing him back to work so well!
On the 3rd November 2007 Kirsten and Nick got married - Victor was there to smile for the camera!
Married at Boreham Church, the wedding was absolutely beautiful, and a true Limebrook affair. When bride and groom left the church they were greeted by 4 Limebrook horses: Sophie (and Marie), Bertie (and Sam), Victor (and Katie), and Tia (with Alex). It was a complete surprise for Kirsten!
Friends and family joined the happy couple for a reception at Vaulty Manor, and the night concluded with the bride joining in with the famous Boehemian Raphodsy! Only at Limebrook!!!
