Tansy
Tansy (real name Fantasy Fox) has been at Limebrook for 22 years. Bought at market for a very small sum Tansy has repaid the riding school many times over.
Tansy stands 14.2 hh, and is a Welsh Section D. She is registered with the Welsh Pony and Cob Society. Her birthday is the 22nd of May, and she will be 26 years old in 2006.
It is probably true to say that all the current instructors at Limebrook learned to ride on Tansy - and all seem to have fond memories of falling off her in their, and her, younger days. Ask about Tansy in the tack room and it seems any member of staff will tell you a story about when they used to ride her! Tansy holds her head slightly to one side which is said to be the result of a very much younger Clare (now the Manageress!), constantly feeding her carrots and polos whilst taking her hacking! She has also been taken hunting.
There's not much you can teach Tansy about being a riding school pony - she has a wonderful way of tossing her head and rolling her eyes as if to say she has seen it all before!
The grand old lady of the ponies, Tansy keeps very fit, still enjoys her jumping, and can show a turn of speed which belies her age. She is an excellent lead rein pony, and is very reliable for the complete novice.
Tansy has got one foible which becomes apparent in almost every lesson, causing many a child to have a fit of giggles (especially when they get the blame) - Tansy runs on wind power. Or in other words, she suffers from rather loud flatulence!
Having gone through one generation of the family, Tansy is pictured above with the owner's grandson! She shows no sign of slowing down yet, and enjoys being ridden.
